Joost Jansen is a visual artist with a strong focus on animation, working across fine art, print, and hybrid projects.
Based at his JJstudio in the heart of Brussels, he works as a freelance art director, illustrator, animator, and director on both artistic auteur films and commercial productions for a broad audience. His work is defined by a bold, visually distinctive style that moves fluidly between cinema, advertising, illustration, documentary, and games.
Driven by drawing from an early age, his visual language grew out of a deep fascination with comics and street culture. Hand-drawn imagery remains central to his practice, resulting in an organic aesthetic shaped by influences from manga and graphic storytelling.
As an author and director, he has received multiple international awards for films such as Yves, I Love Hooligans, A Battle for Peace, and Drifter. In addition to his own projects, he collaborates on feature films and is represented internationally by several production companies.
